The Crutchfield House - 4001 Avenue G

Completed in 1905, the Crutchfield House, named by its current owners for the Crutchfield family who lived in the home for more than 50 years, has been painstakingly restored and refurbished, faithful to its Victorian origins while updated to serve the needs of a busy modern family.

Three successive renovation projects stretching over 10 years have restored the home's original formal front staircase and coal-burning fireplace and mantle. A two-story rear addition, indistinguishable from the original structure, includes an expanded kitchen, back stairway, updated master suite, family room and back porch. Throughout the home, tourists can view authentic period stained glass and hardware that have been scoured from across the world. Original woodwork details were hand replicated by the current owner's father.

The front parlor, staircase, and dining room, with their restored original fixtures and hardware and furnished with legacy pieces from the early 20th Century, appeared in a major motion picture.

Grounds of the home have been stripped of invasive species and re-landscaped with plants selected by a neighborhood professional to harmonize with mature pecan trees. The current owners plan to replace an original outbuilding with a complementary structure designed by a neighborhood architect.
