The Wright-Dunlap House - 4108 Avenue G
This large bungalow, built in 1916, displays traditional arts and crafts features from its tiled fireplace to its original bathroom sink. After the present owners purchased it in 2004, they spent a year totally rearranging the inside spaces to make the house more open, modern, and useful. By using their knowledge of the period and searching on eBay, the owners, their architect, and their contractor were able to locate artifacts
for the house that preserved the style and charm of the time it was built. Many of its light fixtures are reproductions or authentic from the period. The new furniture and kitchen cabinetry complement the arts and craft details perfectly.
The second story floor plan was rearranged to make more spacious bedrooms and better use the space. Outdoors, the large screened porch and stained concrete patio invite you into the back yard and into the separate garage with its upstairs apartment. This house is a vintage gem that has kept its charm while becoming convenient and modern by today’s standards.
